What is a fractional CTO?
A fractional CTO is an experienced technology executive who works with your business part-time, usually one to three days a month, on a fixed engagement. You get board-level technology judgement on strategy, architecture and delivery without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
How much does a fractional CTO cost in Australia?
Engagements are priced by scope and term rather than by the hour. Division Technologies offers three-, six- and twelve-month packages, with the shorter terms covering an assessment of your current landscape and the longer terms adding roadmaps, delivery capability and board reporting. Request a quote for pricing against your situation.
When should a business hire a fractional CTO instead of a full-time one?
When the technology decisions are senior but the workload is not full-time. That is common in start-ups before product-market fit, in established businesses modernising legacy systems, and during interim gaps between permanent hires. If you need senior judgement more than daily execution, fractional is usually the better economics.
